Erev Shabbat Message
The Sign of the Coming of the Lord
Dr. Richard Booker
One of the most comforting, yet, mystifying, statements Jesus made to His followers is recorded in the gospel of John.
Jesus said to His disciples (talmidim): "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:1-3)
For the past 2,000 years, believers have wondered and hoped that Jesus would fulfill His words in their generation. Spiritual leaders have been so sure Jesus was coming in their lifetime that they gave their followers false hope that led to deep disappointment and disillusionment. Does anybody remember the book, "88 Reasons Why Jesus is Coming in 1988"?
